Hey there!
A sports day with my classmates (Wednesday, May 29)
In the picture are my classmates from the IB course, after playing a kickball tournament against other classmates.
Don’t you know me yet?
Hey, what’s new? I’m Alejandro Cortéz. I’m 17 years old, born and raised in La Mata de Santiago, Veraguas. I love doing any kind of physical activity, and I like talking a lot and learning about different topics. Since I was very young, I’ve been inerested in learning all kinds of things and trying new experiences. I bring this curiosity into school, and I try to keep learning and stay happy wherever I am.
In elementary and middle school, I missed a lot of classes because I was sick often. But what matters is that I’m here now, I’m healthy, and I’m happy. At the end of 2022, someone told me about the Academia Bilingue Panamá para el Futuro. Without thinking too much, I sent in my application, took my tests, and to sum it up, I got into this AMAZING and SPECIAL school. No joke—this school has given me so many lessons I never expected and experiences that I would gladly repeat 100 times.
At the start of 2024, I took more tests, not knowing what was waiting for me, but I was very excited. Anything was possible, and I knew that. I kept feeling excited and a little nervous, and then I got a message that I was accepted into the Diploma Program at ABPF. The rest is history!
This first year in the IB program has been full of emotions, ups and downs, and changes. It’s been a big challenge where I’ve met amazing people with many skills. I’m proud to say that I’ve worked hard, and I feel good about it. But I know I still have much more to give. My English AB Initio course has sometimes been challenging, but with effort, I’ve gotten through it. I’m really excited to keep improving and to know that there’s still so much to learn, always remembering to stay happy!
